Untested Podcast Series

Part of the USA TODAY Network’s WITNESS true crime collection, Untested is a four-part investigative podcast that examines the real-world consequences of unproven forensic science. The series follows a detective’s pursuit to use untested rape kits to bring an alleged serial rapist to justice — a story that exposes both systemic failures and moments of resilience within the justice system.

I contributed to the visual direction and design of the series’ promotional campaign, crafting artwork that reflected the tension and determination at the heart of the story. The key visual features the detective in a striking double exposure, blending his portrait with imagery of the bus stop central to the case and the untested kits that ultimately led to justice. The result is a cohesive, credible design that aligns with the WITNESS brand and underscores the power of investigative storytelling.

ROLES IN PROJECT:

  • Participated in early creative development, including discovery, research, concepting, and ideation.

  • Developed initial design concepts and refined mockups to establish creative direction.

  • Designed and assembled the final presentation deck to secure stakeholder approval prior to production.

  • Created final layouts and graphic elements for use across print, digital ads, email, and video campaigns.

  • Reformatted and optimized final artwork for seamless integration across podcast platforms such as Google, Spotify, and Apple.
